Legal Revenge

Dr. Moore`s speech on revenge focused on David`s life. David of David and the fame of Goliath, that is. The guy who was a shepherd and was with a single slingshot because he had both sight and movement was able to defeat his well-protected, visually impaired and heavily armored opponent. Goliath was so depressed by all the armor that protected him that he couldn`t move to go into battle! David had many enemies, and one of them was the father of his best friend Saul. God had promised David that God would not crush Saul by any of David`s hands, and so David did not take advantage of the multiple opportunity to destroy Saul. This earned David a lot of respect. His allies watched him suffer and wait, and sometimes both. David was sitting in a cave with his enemy completely exposed and did nothing against Saul. Mark`s words, «Your best story doesn`t come from the crown you wear, but from the cave you live in,» recognized that revenge is a just cause.

People want to «get it right.» But as the apostle Paul said, «Take no revenge. but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: «It is for me to take revenge; I will pay him back, says the Lord. (See Romans 12:19) Forgiveness and Revenge is a powerful exploration of our attitudes toward serious wrongdoing and a careful examination of the values that underpin our thinking about revenge and forgiveness. From adulterous spouses to terrorist factions, we are surrounded by wrongdoing, but we rarely agree on the appropriate response. The problem of how to respond realistically and sensitively to past injustices remains confusing. Trudy Govier clarifies our thinking on the subject by examining the moral and practical implications of revenge and forgiveness, both personally and politically. Forgiveness and revenge bring much-needed clarity and reason where emotions often prevail. It is essential reading for anyone interested in the ethics of attitudes toward misconduct. I am also personally familiar with revenge.

For ten years, I suffered from a situation that led me to justify myself, if not to take revenge. Someone in my personal life was campaigning to get me. Twice in these ten years, the truth has been revealed. The first time I learned the truth. But the second time, everyone saw it. The people who were there told others. This cat was out of the bag and it set me free in a way. I know revenge.

I litigate cases in family court and sometimes, unknowingly, I take revenge through my legal services. Often I don`t even know I`m being used for the right response to a bad action. My client is suffering, and we find a needle in a haystack or make a creative legal argument and success has happened where it seemed impossible. I am a member of the Church of Christ of the Valley. Today, as I sat in church and the pastor, Dr. Mark Moore, was talking about revenge, I could relate to it. If you`ve ever wanted revenge and imagined taking revenge on someone who hurt you, attribute it to your dorsal striatum, the part of your brain associated with anger in response to provocation and punishment. If you`re about to divorce or are already in court proceedings, you may want revenge.

If you have never been so hurt by someone that you wanted revenge, then you belong to a small minority. The remaining 99.8% of us were skipped at some point in life. Someone may have taken credit for your idea. Someone excluded you. As you get older, life gives you adult reasons to want revenge. Someone turned your child against you. Someone cheated on you financially or in your marriage, and when that happens, the stakes can be high. If you`re considering revenge on someone, try to take a passive approach, such as completely ignoring the person every time you see them. It may not sound like revenge, but being ignored can be extremely frustrating for a bully or someone who likes to embarrass you. Another form of gentle revenge is to prove the person wrong if it undermines your abilities. For example, if someone is chatting about you at work, stay silent and focus on the work for a promotion or raise.

There are, of course, instances where you may need to take direct action, such as tracking someone who has been stolen from you. Although tempting, resist the urge to take matters into your own hands and call the police or talk to a lawyer instead. For more tips, including using pranks and insults to get revenge on someone, read on. This wait can be endless, but being honest with God when and when you pray triggers revenge. Dr. Moore actually suggested that we pray for what we want to see happen to our enemy. Like any father, God would rather be the one who asks you. Think about what you can do to make your child a playground bully. How many playground bullies in your life would you like to see God at least turned away? Revenge is never pretty, but neither should it. You can passively take revenge on each of them by ignoring them and pretending not to be disturbed, and this is usually the best option because it`s also the one that`s most likely to help you get away from the experience. On the other hand, you can retaliate more directly by taking legal action (if warranted), undermining their efforts to embarrass you, or playing an embarrassing but otherwise harmless prank on them.

Carefully determine if revenge is the best course of action before proceeding. If so, be careful and keep your mind on you. wikiHow is a «wiki», similar to Wikipedia, which means that many of our articles are co-authored by several authors. It was too complex a process for me to orchestrate. Everyone whose actions contributed to the outcome was as shocked as I was – none of us had planned or could have planned this masterpiece.
