As a General Counsel or General Law office, the MALS Division provides legal services to the Minister of Labour, the Senior Head of Department, and the management and staff of all DOL agencies. MALS represents and advises the Ministry in various areas of general law while being SOL`s main administrative body.

Allocation Act – We advise on all aspects of the issuance and acceptance of funds, including: time and amount restrictions on the use of allocated funds, interpretation of the wording of the Appropriation Act and the applicability of legal restrictions and the auditor`s general opinions to the activities of the segregated funds; the use of the Department`s working capital; the use of the Gifts and Bequests Fund; Acceptance of User Fees.
