A local government is required to keep a register of its local laws and must ensure that a copy of its local laws can be consulted and purchased by the public in its public offices. Health and safety laws are designed to protect the health, safety and well-being of all workers at work. The laws also protect the health and safety of all others who may be affected by the work. The Department is required by the LGA to maintain a database of local laws of all local governments and to ensure that a copy of the database is publicly available on the Ministry`s website. WARNING: Legislative changes related to COVID-19 Effective the day on which the COVID-19 Emergency Response Act, 2020 (the Emergencies Act) comes into force on the 23rd. From April 2020 until the expiry date of the COVID-19 legislation (30 April 2022), the ER Act and the extraordinary regulations and legal instruments made under that Act amended a significant number of laws in Queensland. The legislation concerned has functioned as amended, but the amendments have not changed the text of the law. As a result, specific versions of the legislation in force between 23 April 2020 and 30 April 2022 may be affected by the ER Act or by exceptional regulations or legal instruments that were in force at the same time.

The first official Hansard was issued for meetings on April 26, 1864.

Queensland Hansard originally included debates in the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Council was abolished in 1922, leaving Queensland Hansard from that date reporting only the debates of the Legislative Assembly. The general public is also protected so that their health and safety are not threatened by professional activities.
