Led by Professor Samuel C. Thompson, Jr., former director of UCLA`s Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions, the Center examines corporate, securities, tax, antitrust, and other legal and economic issues that arise in mergers and acquisitions. An important part of the center`s mission is to sponsor legal education programs on these topics. The admissions committee must also consider the applicant`s professional background, leadership and service. Candidates who have overcome difficulties or barriers to training or who have had unique experiences are invited to share their stories. We are looking for candidates who make a positive contribution to law school and the legal communities and support our mission of diversity, intellectual engagement and service. Penn State Law also places great importance on letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, and practicum supervisors. Penn State Law, based in University Park, Pennsylvania, is one of two separately accredited law schools of Pennsylvania State University.

The school also offers a joint J.D./M.B.A. with the Smeal College of Business, a joint J.D. / M.I.A. with the School of International Affairs,[2][3] also located in the Lewis Katz Building, as well as joint degrees with other graduate programs at Penn State. U.S. News & World Report ranked Penn State Law 60th out of 194 law schools fully accredited by the American Bar Association in its 2021 Top Graduate School Rankings. [5] The school also participates in a number of moot court competitions, including the Willem C. Vis Moot Commercial Arbitration Moot Court, held annually in Vienna, Austria, and the National Environmental Law Moot Court at Pace University in White Plains, New York. When students join Penn State`s LL.M.program, they become an important part of the law school community. Students work with experienced faculty who help them make the right curriculum decisions to achieve their specific goals. You will participate in focus groups with Young Women students, the Student Bar Association, JD Moot Court and law journals. Penn State LLM students benefit from a wide range of services available to them to ensure their success. These unique services include The Arbitration Law Review is a student-edited publication in a law journal format. Each editorial team produces an independent book and not a series of editions that are ultimately compiled into an anthology. The Arbitration Law Review reviews domestic arbitration developments in the United States, but regularly reviews cross-border developments. The Journal publishes scientific articles presented at an annual symposium, as well as student contributions on current jurisprudence and legislation, as well as book reviews. Membership in Arbitration Law Review can be obtained by participating in the Faculty of Law`s summer examination, which follows the completion of the first year`s examinations. All members of the Arbitration Law Review must complete the Basic Course on Arbitration Procedures in order to obtain or maintain their editorial position.
State College, Pennsylvania, the city where the University Park campus is located, is convenient, safe, and affordable, and is regularly included in lists of the best places to live. Downtown State College is a classic college town with restaurants, shops, and galleries. The surrounding area offers plenty of accommodation for law students/graduates and plenty of outdoor activities, as well as shopping malls, cinemas, and a selection of gyms and other fitness and wellness centers. Athletics plays an important role at Penn State, including attending football, volleyball or hockey games, cheering on the wrestling team, participating in intramural sports, or working out at some of Penn State`s state-of-the-art recreational facilities. Each graduate program has its own admission procedure. Students can apply for law and graduate programs at the same time, or apply for the graduate program during their 1L year. Students are strongly encouraged to complete their 1L year before starting their graduate program. Graduate course credits earned by a law student prior to admission to the Young Women program are not taken into account in calculating the Young Women diploma. Penn State law students have the opportunity to develop and enhance their litigation skills through faculty-led participation in a variety of national, regional, and academic mock trial competitions. National and regional mock trial teams are selected based on students` overall performance in trial advocacy, a course offered in the fall semester that culminates in mock trial competitions at the school where students have the opportunity to conduct a mini-trial in a civil or criminal case. Leading proponents of intra-school competition are invited to represent the law school in a number of regional and national mock trial competitions held in the spring semester, including: Penn State law students also participate in intramural athletic programs.
